The Different Styles Of Music For Your Wedding Ceremony

13 December 2013

Should your wedding ceremony be held at a church, the odds are that your church will have musicians on hand to perform the various parts of your ceremony.  A lot of my clients opt to have their wedding ceremony and reception in the same location, so this could call for the wedding DJ being responsible for the wedding ceremony music.

How Did You Envision Walking Down The Aisle?
Every bride has one of those moments as a little girl where her dreams were formed as to how she would walk down the aisle to marry the man of her dreams.  Perhaps was at a wedding ceremony as a little girl and she watched her sister or a friend of the family walk down the aisle to a traditional instrumental version of Canon In D?  If this was the case, the modern bride of today might be more likely to choose a more formal tone for her wedding ceremony. More formal traditional instrumental music might include either stringed instruments like violin or cello, but also acoustic guitar, as well as wind instruments.

Lyrics Are A Powerful Part Of Music. Listen Closely
Your wedding day is a classy and elegant affair and a once-in-a-lifetime moment in your life. As a professional wedding DJ who prides himself on being a "classy and elegant wedding DJ", I believe lyrics are important, especially when choosing the songs for your wedidng ceremony.  Should you choose to not go with the traditional instrumental songs, be sure to choose songs that conjure up thoughts of love and happiness.

Modern Songs With A Formal And Traditional Tone
Over the past 5 - 7 years, I've seen an uptick in modern love songs written by contemporary musicians and bands being used for wedding ceremony music.  A lot of these songs have been placed into the recurrent music category and might become permanent fixtures on wedding playlists for many years to come.  While some modern brides and grooms opt for the use of the original song (in perhaps an edited version), there are other alternatives. Musical groups like The Piano Guys and Vitamin String Quartet record and release their covers of these songs.  If you do a Google search on The Vitamin String Quartet, you'll see they have recorded many compilations ranging from 90s Alternative to Led Zeppelin, and from Adele to The Beatles.

Blow Your Fiance And Guests Away With Something Unexpected
Some modern brides  are opting to keep the song that they will walk down the aisle to themselves so that it can be a surprise to her fiance and guests. Of course, should you hire me to be your wedding DJ, I will keep this a secret.  If you should decide to go down this route for your bridal recessional song, be sure to put some thought into it and choose a song that you consider to be a huge part of your relationship as a couple.  These songs that are totally unexpected are sure to create the most emotions, so be prepared as there won't be a dry eye in the house.

The Best Moment Of Your Wedding Ceremony. The Recessional
The moment your officiant declares you husband and wife, all the worries of planning and preparation that you experienced during your engagement evaporate into thin air. Most brides and grooms feel like letting out a scream at this time to let everyone know that they have made it.  While you are certainly free to both let out a scream, you can celebrate by selecting a fun and celebratory  recessional song for your wedding ceremony. <----Click HERE for the best recessional songs.
