Why You Should Hire Mike Bills To DJ Your Wedding

25 July 2017

With over 20 years of experience in the music industry, as well as a professional wedding  and event DJ, I can tell you that there is no one size fits all playlist for each and every wedding that I do. Some couples have VERY strict tastes. Some couples issue a "no request moratorium" and want it all about them. Some couples have very eclectic tastes. It's what makes DJing weddings so fun and challenging to me, because they all are different. Every single couple is different and has widely differing musical tastes. While every couple does indeed have those varying musical tastes, I approach each and every one of them the same way with the same amount of passion. I do that by meeting with my couples to get to know their likes and dislikes so that we can work together to create the perfect mix of music to keep people on the dance floor all night long.

I am NOT that embarrassing wedding DJ that you saw at your best friend's wedding last year, and who made you scared about wedding DJs in general when you first got engaged, and started the wedding planning process.  If that is what you desire, I can surely point you in the right direction of that guy who has the game show persona and thinks the blinky lights and fog are still an integral part of wedding decor.  I WILL with your guidance create a classy and elegant playlist for the cocktail hour and dinner portion of the evening, then make sure everyone is on the dance floor after dinner and after the cake is cut. Your reception can be classy and fun WITHOUT all the silly games and gimmicks. It's the ONLY way I know how to DJ a wedding.

Why Should Hire Me Mackenzee Adam First Dance Wedding DJ

I AM booked for only ONE WEDDING PER DAY. Brides and grooms have invested a lot of money in my services to not get a fresh and focused emcee and DJ for their allotted time. Before I arrive to your wedding venue, I have spent lots of time organizing playlists, editing music, obtaining music, responding to emails, having in-person meetings and I want to make sure I give my couples all 110% of me.

I AM a professional emcee with a great, polished voice. I learned how to speak "professionally" on a microphone after spending close to a decade as an on-air announcer on the radio here in Charleston. What I am NOT is your very corny "overzealous announcer" who cracks the microphone every 5 minutes trying to motivate your guests by saying things like "put your hands in the air" or "let's get grandma on the dance floor". I WILL make as many or as few announcements as you would like, but I truly believe the music you choose and I play for you speaks for itself and needs no corny announcements or introductions. If you are seeking that type of DJ, then I am certainly NOT your guy.

I WILL stay behind my DJ table. The focus is to be solely on the bride and groom during my weddings. ALWAYS!  Having a DJ go out and try to assist people in dancing is way too over the top and puts the focus on them. There is no need for me to walk onto the dance floor and teach you how to dougie (something I don't even know how to do) or embarrass myself by attempting to show your guests how to do line dances. I don't even know how to do line dances. :)  Most modern brides and grooms are opting to keep these line dances off of their Charleston wedding DJ playlists.  I can assure you that with a little effort we can create the perfect mix of music for your Charleston wedding to get your guests dancing without any line dances. You can keep the floor full WITHOUT line dances.

I DON'T offer any types of add-ons or upgrades. First and foremost, I am a DJ, and my focus is on the music and my knowledge of music expands multiple genres. I don't claim to be a photographer, a videographer, a photobooth guru or lighting expert.  The only hat I wear is that of a professional wedding DJ. The focus for me is making sure the playlist for your wedding is perfect. I don't employ any tacky, blinking laser lights like you see in dance clubs. I don't hang any incredibly tacky signs or banners.  I CAN however point you in the right direction of some of the best wedding vendors in Charleston when it comes to planning and coordination, photography, videography and photobooths.

I LIKE to think I am pretty easy to work with. I will seamlessly work with any wedding planner or coordinator you have hired. I want you to look back on your wedding day and feel relieved and say "I really appreciate how Mike went the extra mile with us...." That type of sentiment seems to show up in my reviews quite frequently. When you hire me, the process of creating the ultimate wedding playlist begins when I set up your personal portal on my professionally designed website where you can log in and access thousands of songs and begin to pick and choose what you WANT to hear and what you do not want to hear.

Like What You've Heard So Far And Want To Secure Mike As Your Charleston Wedding DJ?

If all of this sounds good to you, I look forward to meeting you and would absolutely LOVE to DJ your wedding ceremony and / or reception. There is nothing more exciting to me than sitting down in front of a newly engaged couple and seeing that glow in their eyes as they begin to talk music, and smile at each other, especially when starting the conversation about what their first dance song might be. Be sure to check out my recent blog post about 20 of my picks for First Dance Songs and ideas.

I strongly believe MY keeping the focus on the bride and groom is a one of a kind thing going on in Charleston right now among wedding DJs. And even more importantly, brides and grooms are eating up the fact that they will work with ME throughout the entire process from the time of booking until their limousine leaves the reception site. This is a strong selling point to brides and grooms who are planning a destination wedding to Charleston or even the local couples. Simply put, there will be NO SURPRISE who your DJ will be.

Choosing the right DJ is extremely important to the success of your wedding day. You want your guests to remember the day for decades and for that to happen, you need to hire a wedding DJ who is professional and polished in each and every aspect.  If you have more questions about me, take a look at the Frequently Asked Questions. If you feel like we are a good match, then simply contact me to check the availability of your wedding date. I look forward to hearing from you and beginning a musical journey together. In a world where there is a wedding DJ on every street corner, I believe in providing a focus that only a few select wedding DJs are able to provide. You are invited to look over other portions of my blog and website, as well as a lot of the real weddings. I'd love to set up a time to talk to you to introduce myself. I take what I do very seriously and it shows in the impeccable reputation I've developed over the years.
