30 Best Soft Rock Songs From The 2000s For Your Charleston Wedding Playlist

"Breathe" | Faith Hill
Released at the end of 1999, "Breathe" would be a crossover hit for Faith. The song would spend 6 weeks at the beginning of 2000 on the Billboard country charts, and would reach as high as Number 2 on the adult contemporary charts in the spring of 2000.
"You Sang To Me" | Marc Anthony
"You Sang To Me" was a Latin crossover hit for Marc Anthony. The song was released in February of 2000 and would top the Hot Latin, as well as the adult contemporary charts in the spring and summer.
"Cruisin" | Huey Lewis & Gwyneth Paltrow
Originally recorded and released by Motown great Smokey Robinson in 1979, Huey Lewis & Gwyneth Paltrow would record a cover of this classic for the movie "Duets" that was released in the fall of 2000.
"This I Promise You" | NSync
Released in November of 2000, this song would become the band 5th Top 10 single, and would spend over 3 months at Number 1 on the adult contemporary chart. The song has also been known to be used for a couple's first dance song.
"I Hope You Dance" | Lee Ann Womack
"I Hope You Dance" is another great country crossover song released in the spring of 2000. The song would reach Number 1 on the country charts, as well as the adult contemporary charts. This has been a very common choice for the mother / son dance song at Charleston weddings in recent years.
"Sand In My Shoes" | Dido
You can find this song on Dido's popular album "Life For Rent", which featured "White Flag". I can remember playing this song at the radio station I was employed at back in the summer of 2004.
"Hero" | Enrique Iglesias
Released in August of 2001, shortly before the September 11th attacks, NYC DJs would mix audio from firefighters and first responders into this song. The song would reach Number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Number 1 on the adult contemporary and Latin charts.
"A New Day Has Come" | Celine Dion
Celine Dion ruled adult contemporary radio through out the 1990s and was still going strong in the early 2000s. This title track from her 6th album was released in March of 2002 and would make it all the way to Number 1 on the adult contemporary charts.
"A Thousand Miles" | Vanessa Carlton
Vanessa's first single was "A Thousand Miles" released in Febroary of 2002. The song would reach the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Number 1 on the adult contemporary charts.
"The Game Of Love" | Santana & Michelle Branch
You can find this song on Santana's 2002 album "Shaman". The song would eventually hit Number 1 on the adult contemporary charts, and crack the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
"Drift Away" | Uncle Kracker Featuring Dobie Gray
One of the better cover songs I've heard to date that actually features the guy that sang the song originally. The song would spend 7 months at the top of the adult contemporary charts in 2003.
"Forever & For Always" | Shania Twain
"Forever & For Always" was another country crossover song that would also appear on the adult contemporary charts in the summer and fall of 2003. The song would actually go to Number 1 on the adult contemporary charts, but only Number 4 on the Hot Country charts.
"Drops Of Jupiter" | Train
One of the biggest songs of 2001,this was the lead single from the "Drops Of Jupiter" album and would eventually reach the Top 5.
"The First Cut Is The Deepest" | Sheryl Crow
The song was originally released by Cat stevens in 1967, then covered by Rod Stewart back in the early 70s. Sheryl Crow's version would make it all the way to Number 1 on the adult contemporary charts back in 2003.
"100 Years" | Five For Fighting
Released in November of 2003, "100 Years" was the first single off the album "The Battle For Everything". The song would eventually hit Number 1 on the adult contemporary charts in early 2004.
"Heaven" | Los Lonely Boys
Released in the spring of 2004, the song would do a crossover on the country charts only coming in at Number 46, but would begin a 4 month reign at Number 1 on the adult contemporary charts in the fall of 2004.
"Home" | Michael Buble
Released in March of 2005, "Home" was the second single from the album "It's Time". "Home" has been in pretty heavy rotation over the years since it's release at Charleston weddings.
"You And Me" | Lifehouse
"You And Me" was a very strong release from the band's third self-titld album in the spring of 2005. The song would spend 34 weeks (not consecutive) at Number 1 on the Adult contemporary charts.
"Waiting On The World To Change" | John Mayer
The 2000s would be the decade that John Mayer would go mainstream. Released in July of 2006, you can find this song on the album "Continuum". The song would reach Number 1 on the aduly contemporary, as well as Adult Top 40 charts.
"Chasing Cars" | Snow Patrol
If you are a fan of Gray's Anatomy, you probably remember this song from the season finale during the 2nd season. The song would be released in June of 2006 and reach the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Number 1 on the adult contemporary charts.
"Everything" | Michael Buble
The first single from his 2007 album "Call Me Irresponsible", "Everything" was released in April 2007 and would become another Number 1 song for this talented artist on the adult contemporary charts. "Everything"continues to be in heavy rotation at Charleston weddings for wedding ceremonies, dinner music, and first dance song choices.
"Bubbly" | Colbie Caillat
"Bubbly" would be the only time that Colbie Caillat would crack the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, but would become Number 1 on the adult contemporary charts.
"The Time Of My Life" | David Cook
David Cook won the 7th season of American Idol in the spring of 2008 and shortly after would release"The Time Of My Life" on May 22, 2008. The song would debut at Number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, and would also hit Number 1 on the adult contemporary charts.
"I'm Yours" | Jason Mraz
I would have to say that "I'm Yours" is one of the most popular recurrent songs being at a lot of my Charleston weddings today. It's texture is fun and perfect for either a cocktail hour or dinner music portion of the evening. It's the first single from his 2008 album "We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things" and would become Number 1 on the adult contemporary charts.
"Beautiful Day" | U2
This song has actually been used at some of my weddings as a bridal party introduction song. Released in the fall of 2000, it was the first single on their album "All That You Can't Leave Behind" and would reach the Top 5 on the Billboard alternative charts.
"A Moment Like This" | Kelly Clarkson
The very first American Idol is still going strong today, and has had a string of successful albums. "A Moment Like This" would be released in September of 2002 and reach Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
"Love Story" | Taylor Swift
This was the first single from Taylor Swift's second album "Fearless" released in September of 2008. Her music would have more traction on the country charts at the beginning of her career, but would eventually cross over to the pop and adult contemporary charts later in her career.
"Fallin" | Alicia Keys
Alicia Keys is one of the most talented singer and songwriters in modern music today. This was the lead single from her debut album "Songs In A Minor" released in the spring of 2001.
"Come Away With Me" | Norah Jones
The title track from her debut album in 2002 would become another great recurrent song heard at Charleston weddings. The song is perfect for wedding ceremony prelude music, as well as ceremony and dinner music portions of the evening.
"Bless The Broken Road" | Rascal Flatts
Bless The Broken Road" was released in the fall of 2004 and would become one of the most popular recurrent mother / son dance songs at Charleston weddings over the past several years. The song would hit Number 1 on the Hot Country charts, and cross over to the adult contemporary charts and crack the Top 20.
