10 Songs That Will Rock Charleston Weddings To Start 2018

29 December 2017

2017 has seen some totally amazing wedding receptions all around the beautiful destination and city of Charleston. The year has seen it's share of fresh, danceable pop and rap hits, where a lot of the songs have strong enough legs to probably be mixed into more wedding receptions deep into 2018. While "Despacito" certainly exploded into the song of summer 2017 and broke You Tube records with views of nearly 4.6 billion, it was Ed Sheeran who was even more dominant on the charts all year with songs like "Shape Of You". And as the summer turned into fall, "Perfect" started to hit the airwaves,as well as at Charleston weddings and is now well on it's way to becoming one of the biggest songs of the year in 2018. As the calendar turns from 2017 to 2018, here are some of the best bets for the biggest songs that will be rocking the dance floors at Charleston weddings all year long.

 "Perfect" | Ed Sheeran
I'm not sure it can get any better for Ed Sheeran. Back in 2014, he knocked it out of the park with a song that became a recurrent first dance with "Thinking Out Loud". It was a great ballad and the music video and lyrics made it perfect for any wedding. Let's fast forward a few years and Ed Sheeran releases a new record and another catchy song "Shape Of You" rules the charts for the better part of a year. Then, as we wrap up another year, here comes Ed Sheeran with another "perfect" ballad. Please excuse the pun right there, but it really is a "perfect" song for a couple's first dance or like I used it during a wedding ceremony prelude a few weeks ago. Check out the lyrics to the song when you get a chance, and watch the video and you'll see what I mean.

"Havana" by Camila Cabelo (featuring Young Thug)
This song was originally released back on September 8, 2017 and has shown a steady increase up the charts. Back on November 12, there was a very cool remix of the song along with Daddy Yankee uploaded to Camila's You Tube page. It's got a catchy Latin beat and is sure to get all your guests out on the dance floor. Go ahead and pull up the You Tube below, take a listen and then write it down on your must-play as you get the music together for your Charleston wedding playlist.

"Good Old Days" | Mackelmore Featuring Kesha
Another great song from Mackelmore that was released back on October 9 and already has over 28 million views on You Tube.  Mackelmore hinted at this collaboration with Kesha earlier in the year when he posted a photo of thme both on Instagram. As we round out the last few days of 2017, it still is in the Top 15 and moving on up.

"Tip Toe" | Jason Derulo Featuring French Montana
"Tip Toe" is the third song to break off Derulo's 5th album "777". It was released bakc on November 10, and the music video was uploaded to You Tube during the first week of December.  It's a catchy song and I'm looking forward to hearing some remixes in the coming months. Your guests will "tip-toe" out to the dance floor and stay there all night. Take a listen down below.

"How Would You Feel? | Ed Sheeran
It's like Ed Sheeran has been given the gift to write songs that make any woman melt. Gee whiz. Here's another great Ed Sheeran ballad to throw on during your dinner hour or maybe even for your wedding ceremony prelude over at Lowndes Grove or even Middleton Place

"What Lovers Do" Maroon 5 Featuring Sza
This was a late summer release for Maroon 5 as the lead track off their latest albmu "Red Pill Blues. It's certainly got a great beat and I can see it bringing all your guests out on the dance floor coming up at your Charleston wedding in 2018.

"There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back" | Shawn Mendes
Another great song from Shawn Mendes that looks to get your guests dancing all night at your Charleston wedding reception down at the Historic Rice Mill or the Gadsden House.

"That's What I Like" | Bruno Marrs
wow. This song is not going anywhere and will be a mainstay on a lot of Charleston wedding playlists in 2018 and beyond. It was released in late January 2017 as the follow-up to the hugely successful "24K Magic", and its been filling dance floors ever since. Bruno Marrs can do no wrong. Enough said. Take a listen below and then add it to your playlist. You'll be glad that you did.

"Thunder" | Imagine Dragons
The song is still red-hot even as we get ready to change the calendars over to 2018. It was released in late April of 2017 and is catchy and has been a heavy favorite at Charleston weddings since the summer.

"Feel It Still" | Portugal. The Man
There isn't much more I can tell you about Portugal. The Man other than it became one of the biggest songs of 2017, and looks to continue to have traction as we move into 2018.  It's very catchy and has a very unique sound.

2018 Looks Good For Music At Charleston Weddings
As you can see, this is just a sampling of what's hot as 2017 wraps up and what will be hot in at least the first half of 2018. All indications are that 2018 is going to go in the same direction as 2017 did with more great dance-able pop and rap songs breaking online and on the air.  If the crowd goes for it, you may go ahead and add some of these newer Top 40 songs into your playlist. There usually is some to add some of these songs into the mix toward the middle to end of the evening as the tempo of the evening is going pretty steady.  I wanted to take this time to thank you for finding my website and this blog.
