Even doing a Google Search on Somerset Pointe, there was very little information about it.  It actually wasn't until the day before their wedding (October 12th) that I got to drive up and check out the area and venue. Just the drive up to rural Berkeley County will make you relax and as you approach the lake, it's like serenity after a long day.

Somerset Pointe is the "road less traveled" when it comes to a venue for a wedding in the Charleston, SC area because it's privately owned by Santee Cooper. Only employees and families of Santee Cooper can use this facility. If you live in the Moncks Corner and/or Berkeley County and are seeking a great venue, I highly recommend you getting to know someone who works for Santee Cooper so you can experience the serenity of Somerset Pointe for your wedding day.

The bridal party introduction song they chose was a classic 80s One Hit Wonder from the band A-Ha titled "Take On Me"

After the bridal party introduction, we immediately segued into Nicole & Karl's first dance which was a song from the post-Steve Perry Journey line-up. "With Your Love" is a wonderful ballad that was released as part of the Arrival album released in 2001 with Steve Augeri on lead vocals.

After saying your wedding vows, your first dance is going to be one of the most special, sacred moments of your entire wedding day.  It is best to choose a song that evokes emotion and lasting memories of love.  One of the things I like to tell my couples if they are having a very difficult time thinking of a song for their first dance is to think about song that describe their love for one another. Be sure to choose a song that puts a smile on your face and a tear to your eye.  The style of your first dance song has a lot to do with your favorite type of music. Modern brides and grooms might choose a soft, country love song,  a Motown love song, or something more modern. Over the years, my clients have also taken it upon themselves to choose a popular Indie first dance song.   Whichever type of song you choose, be sure to have fun with this moment during your wedding reception. Your first dance is one of the first things you'll do together as a newly married couple and all eyes from your family and guests will be on you.

Meeting your DJ for your wedding in Charleston is just one of the many ways to ensure peace of mind on the most important day of your life. First and foremost, the booking of a DJ / and or entertainment at your event is a "business transaction". For me, personally, I do not book anyone "online" without interaction with the client prior to their event. Reason being is I personally don't feel comfortable taking anyone's money until they sit down with me and we've chatted with one another about their expectations of me. Our initial sit-down and consultation is generally a quick information gathering session. I give folks a written timeline to be transferred over to their online profile when they book with me.

When it comes to planning the music for what will become the soundtrack for your wedding ceremony, many brides and grooms  tend to find this a rather daunting part of their music planning process.  Planning your wedding ceremony music really sort of begins with how you envisioned this most special day of your life. How did you envision this most magical day of your life is the direction that you should go as it pertains to the music for your wedding ceremony. Did you envision a classy and elegant formal type of wedding ceremony or a more laid back approach with contemporary music.  Over the years as a professional wedding DJ, I've been the DJ at wedding ceremonies that have run the gamut. I've worked formal and semi-formal affairs, and more laid back ceremonies that chose to incorporate more contemporary, modern music into their wedding ceremony.   First you should decide on whether you'd like your wedding DJ to do your ceremony music, or hire a professional musician to play your music. Thanks for visiting my blog! Please enjoy this quick overview on how to plan the perfect mix of music for your wedding ceremony.

Teri & Michael's ceremony began around 5pm as the bridal party (still in the somewhat bright summer sun). The bridal party descended into the back of the house near the beach to the Train song "Marry Me". As Teri and her father descended down the stairs, I faded out Train and moved into "Love Me Tender" by Norah Jones.

My success as a professional wedding DJ have 100% everything to do with providing my modern brides and grooms exactly what they want as it pertains to the music during their wedding reception. There are lots and lots of wedding DJs out there who think all that they need to do is just load up some heavy DJ gear and their personal music collection and just "show up" at your wedding and play "their" music collection.  I've seen it play out wedding after wedding after wedding, and I am here to tell that giving modern brides and grooms the latitude to create their own playlist with the music that their guests know and love is the best way to ensure that everyone will have an amazing. Professional wedding DJs should never assume that ALL weddings are the same because that could so far from the truth. It's the DJs who tell you that ALL weddings are the same who are probably the best ones to scratch off of your list when it comes to sitting down and selecting the one who makes you most comfortable.

Perhaps you are just getting started in the wedding planning process? You'll find that as you continue to progress on your wedding planning that there are so many moving parts that make your wedding day truly flawless and memorable.  Before we get into the meat of this post, I am going to put it out there that I think you should hire a wedding coordinator or planner.  Even if you already have a ballpark figure of how much you would like to spend on your wedding, I thoroughly recommend adding just a little more to your budget so that you can hire a wedding coordinator or planner. Maybe you don't want to splurge and hire a planner? Perfect. You should hire  (at least) a "month" or "day of" coordinator to help you organize your day.
