Sarah + Anthony: Destination Mills House Hotel Wedding

10 December 2022

Now that I've got some time on my hands since my fall wedding rush has subsided a tad, it's time to stop neglecting my beloved wedding DJ blog. I'm still glowing about my fall wedding clients; such an amazing and eclectic group of modern brides and grooms coming to the Holy City for their most special and important day. It's very nice to know that recently engaged brides and grooms are deciding to move past COVID and are ready to get married in one of the top wedding destinations in the country. Sarah + Anthony actually found me back in the spring by way of a referral on Facebook. Apparently, my name was mentioned at some point inside a wedding group. Special thanks to whoever made this mention of me because most all of my clients find me by way of Google search. I will include a link to archive post about Google searches later in this post. I am so glad I got mentioned and that Sarah + Anthony decided to click over to my website and learn more about me.  For more on Sarah + Anthony's destination wedding, click below.

Residing in the Granite State of New Hampshire, Sarah +Anthony would rent a van and head down to Charleston, SC for their destination wedding.  They would exchange their vows outside in the courtyard of the Mills House Hotel, before moving inside into the Barbados Room for their cocktail hour, dinner, and reception.  As is the case with all of my other clients, I made the effort to get to know Sarah & Anthony. Since Sarah + Anthony weren't local, I set up a call with them in July to begin putting together what would be their timeline for their wedding day, and it was at this time I began to learn what kinds of music they liked and disliked. And when they arrived in Charleston the week of their wedding, I drove over to meet them to introduce myself and to go over any last minute details. ALL of my clients appreciate the fact that I take the time to meet them before their wedding. Only the best, professional wedding DJs are going to set aside time to do this.  For more information on Why Modern Brides And Grooms Should Always Meet Their DJ, <---Click HERE - Getting to know my clients sets them at ease, plus it allows me to get to know a little bit about them, and sets me at ease too. You get to know little facts like Sarah & Anthony had already bought a house together, as well as a boat! What better time now than to make things official by having their wedding in Charleston. :) I also found out that Sarah + Anthony are huge Elton John fans and went to go see him in Boston.

When asked why they chose Charleston for their destination wedding, Sarah + Anthony told me they originally thought about doing a larger wedding in Vermont, but then made plans for a smallish wedding in Charleston. They were familiar with Charleston because of the times they travelled to Savannah to see some of the guests that would be at their wedding.  When brides and grooms hire me, I often wonder how they determine their wedding date.  Being high school sweethearts, September 23 would be a very special day for Sarah + Anthony.  It's the day the first met.  September 23, 2011.

After the wedding ceremony wrapped up, guests would be treated to some cocktails and hors d'oeuvres as our newly married couple would run off and get some more photos made.  For cocktail hour, I mixed in some modern pop with a few uptempo country tracks, as well as some classic rock favorites of Anthony's. Down below, I could not forget to mention "Yukon". "Yukon" is Sarah + Anthony's dog who came along and was in the wedding ceremony too.

Sarah + Anthony's Special Dances

It always pains me to find out that one of my bride's or groom's won't have one of their parents to see this most special day in their lives. During my announcement of the bridal party,  I posthumously announced Sarah's mother. Sarah's mother unfortunately lost her battle with cancer years earlier.  These moments are not only extremely emotional for my clients and their guests, but also for wedding DJs like me. Her mother was definitely watching her beautiful daughter from heaven as she married the man of her dreams.

Looking For An Excellent Wedding DJ For Your Destination Wedding?

What song would be most appropriate to end the evening for the modern bride and groom who love Elton John? You guessed it! "Tiny Dancer" would be the song I'd play to wrap up this wonderful September evening at the Mills House Hotel. Sarah + Anthony were such an amazing couple to work with, and who worked so hard to make this wedding happen.  Sarah + Anthony's guest list of 50-60 was proof you can have a smaller guest list and STILL have a great time.  I hope that Sarah + Anthony will come back down to Charleston for their 1st anniversary. If they do, they should contact Shelby Stewart for pictures!  It's always nice to meet these totally awesome photographers who work long and hard to capture my client's wedding days.  Oops. I almost forgot to add in the link that I mentioned in the introduction of this post about How Modern Brides And Grooms Find Me On Google <---Click HERE.  Thank you for making it all the way to the end of this post. If you are interested in talking to me about being the wedding DJ on your most special day, please click the link up above or head back over to my website to fill out a contact form.
