Alisha + Matt: Family And Friends At A Folly Beach House
If you speak with a lot of seasoned wedding vendors, they'll tell you the likelihood the way that modern brides and grooms are going to celebrate weddings might just be changing forever. Even as wedding bookings begin to slightly increase as we edge toward 2022, I find myself asking the following questions: "How are weddings going to look in the future?" "Will there ever be a sense of normalcy in the industry again?" One thing is for sure, the guest lists have shrunk quite a bit during the COVID-19 pandemic. Perhaps it's because modern brides and grooms want to invest more in a honeymoon to get away because they feel as though they have been locked down for so long? Maybe the modern bride and groom wants to spend less on their wedding because they want to buy a new home? Maybe recently engaged brides and grooms can take some advice from Alisha & Matt. Alisha found me back in March of 2021 by way of one of the wedding websites. We set up a call and discussed exactly what her and her fiance Matt were looking for. Their wedding would be small, and in today's day and age, that's completely OK. For those couples thinking about a small wedding, you'll want to read on.
Regardless of your reason why you'd like to have a small wedding, all you really need is your immediate family and closest friends there. My experience has been that smaller weddings can be just as fun, (if not more) fun than weddings with 200 people. There are times where I have rocked out a destination wedding of 48 people for 4 hours and no one left the dance floor. Alisha & Matt had visited Charleston at an earlier date and made a decision to get married on Folly Beach. Over the years, I've found myself performing at numerous beach houses on Folly. This time I would be performing at 917 West Ashley Ave. Since I had never been to this house before I took a drive out to check it out in August, just to see what I was up against when it came to load in.

Alisha & Matt were getting married on the afternoon of Friday, October 8. As I do with ALL of my wedding clients, I make the effort to take time to meet them before their wedding day. For more information on Why You Should Always Meet Your Wedding DJ Before Your Special Day <----Click HERE. Meeting my clients beforehand not only sets them at ease, but also puts me into a more secure frame of mind. Even though 95% of my clients don't live in the area, my track record is 100% in meeting all of my couples before their wedding. I've done it since Day 1 because it's the right thing to do. When I met Alisha & Matt at the beach house, it put me at a greater ease because I would know exactly where I would be set up. Not having been to this particular beach house, I did not know where the electrical outlets were at. As is the case for most all of the buildings that are located near the water, electrical outlets are placed on the ceilings or much higher to keep them out of the way from getting hit by water should the area flood.
I did not catch her name, but apparently when Alisha & Matt came down to the Charleston area to begin planning this beautiful Folly Beach wedding, they bumped into a singer who they really liked at Rita's and hired her to sing at the beach ceremony. As you can see, there were storm clouds out in the ocean but they stayed there for the ceremony and the rain held off until the very end of the night.
Alisha & Matt's COCKTAIL HOUR / DINNER MUSIC SELECTIONS
Alisha & Matt (along with their guests from Missouri) were huge country fans. You'll see that their music selections. Sometimes all a couple needs when they love each other and are getting married is a table set up at a beach house under the lights. Small weddings can be so peaceful.
