Courtney + Logan: Their BC Wedding At Upstairs At Midtown
You are probably looking at the title of this post and are wondering what exactly a "BC Wedding" is. Well you probably learned in history class that BC was to mean Before Christ, but for the sake of this post and the new era that we live in, I am changing it's meaning to Before Coronavirus. I cannot take credit for the "re-coining" of BC as I first heard it from a former colleague I worked with years ago on the radio, Richard Todd. Richard does mornings on The Sound Of Charleston, 105.5 The Bridge. I do remember waking up to a chilly, crisp March day back on March 7, 2020. Courtney & Logan had booked me back in the fall of 2019 for a small destination wedding to be held on this first Saturday in March 2020 at Upstairs At Midtown. Courtney & Logan had chosen Charleston, SC as a wedding destination by way of their home state of New Hampshire. They brought with them a nice and small destination crowd as well, mostly from the New England as well. But let me tell you, Courtney & Logan's wedding at Upstairs At Midtown proved once again you don't need 250 guests at your wedding to have the time of your life.
With 90% of the weddings I book annually being "destination", I know firsthand that when a modern bride and groom plan a wedding and bring their closest friends and family down from New York, New Jersey, Boston, Philadelphia, and now New Hampshire, it's going to be a party. With around 30 people total (including Courtney & Logan), it was quite the party at Upstairs At Midtown. I don't want to sound like a broken record but as I put this post together, my mind still drifts back to March 7. After the last song ended on that night and we all said our goodbyes, I don't think anyone thought we would be on hiatus from having any weddings in Charleston for the entire spring season. But, here we are and I am happy to provide you some early March wedding memories (feels like a decade ago) now to be happily placed in the real weddings section of my website. Congratulations once again to Courtney & Logan. I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness.

What A Fun Night With Courtney & Logan
Who knew that the disco classic by Donna Summer would be the last song I would play for what is turning out to be quite a long time. Immediately when word on the street in Charleston broke about the cancellation of large gathering (weddings), I thought about how much fun a smallish group of people could have at a wedding like Courtney & Logan's group. You don't need a lot of people to have an amazing time at a wedding. All you need is a top-ranked wedding DJ who will help you put together a great playlist that will keep the energy of the evening up. And when the crowd is small, it generally progresses into a lot of personal requests because smaller gatherings are generally even more laid back. When COVID-19 would begin to cancel weddings, it was initially discussed that there could be no large gatherings of 50 or more people, which then would drop to a much lower number as the Coronavirus pandemic would further invade the Charleston, SC area. For now, I'll just continue to look back to the night of March 7th with a smile and that night will forever be remembered as my last wedding BC (Before Coronavirus).
