Kate + Ben: Late Summer Stables At Boals Farm Wedding

March 6, 2020. You are probably asking me why I begin this look back at Kate & Ben's special day out at The Stables At Boals Farm with that date. It was the date I would meet Kate & Ben to begin discussing the music for their wedding. We met over at Low Tide Brewing near the fire pit, which was actually the night before the last wedding I would do before COVID 19 would shut down the spring wedding season in Charleston.  If we fast forward a few weeks, COVID 19 would begin to shut down pretty much the entire spring wedding season. Since no one had ever been in a pandemic, we had no idea how much longer we would be affected. When I was contracted by Kate + Ben, they were planning on getting married back on May 30. As the weddings of the spring continued to be postponed, Kate contacted me to let me know that her and Ben were going to move their date to September 12.    On September 12, Kate + Ben would be married 

As the summer rolled on, so did COVID. Since weddings were exempt from any capacity regulations set forth by the governor of South Carolina, it was my observation that wedding vendors were just going to do their best to navigate around this very complex situation.  Out of respect for my clients and their guests, I've decided that it was best to wear a mask when you were not able to socially distance. Most of all the wedding vendors I've worked with have accepted this as the way forward until COVID 19 is more under control. By September 12, COVID was still very much a big part of the narrative, but cases were not nearly as bad as they were a few months earlier. I've tried to put myself into a bride and groom's shoes on whether or not they will wear masks. I see both sides of the argument. On one hand, you want to have the time of your life, but then we are in the middle of a pandemic.  The best course of action is to just be careful, but still try to have fun. 

One saving grace about Kate + Ben having their wedding out at The Stable's At Boals Farm was the fact it was outside.  But with the wedding being held on September 12, we had not quite seen our first Fall cool-down in the area so we were still in the midst of very heavy summertime humidity.

As I got ready to drive out to The Stables At Boals Farm For Kate + Ben's special day,  there were heavy downpours at my house, so I was a little nervous seeing we had a 5:00pm ceremony outdoors behind the barn. I began playing some ceremony prelude about 4:30pm, but with temperatures in the 80s with high humidity, everyone was ready for an ice cold adult beverage

If you take away the heat and humidity, Kate + Ben's wedding ceremony and reception out at The Stables At Boals Farm was a wonderful day. COVID 19 would not deny them the day that was supposed to happen back on May 30.  It would appear as though we'll continue to meander around COVID 19 in Charleston until we get a vaccine. Hopefully at some point in 2021, we'll get positive news and get that vaccine. In the meantime, I would not cancel your wedding, especially if you already invested resources into a venue, as well as your vendors.
