Final Walkthrough For Sarah & Ryan At The Historic Rice Mill

02 May 2016

Wedding season is in full swing in Charleston and as the calendar has turned from April into May, the next wedding for Mike Bills Entertainment has a Thursday stop at the Historic Rice Mill off Lockwood Blvd in downtown Charleston. Sarah & Ryan are a destination couple from the Virginia Beach area, as Ryan is in the military. It is the intention of Mike Bills Entertainment to meet each and every couple before the big day, just for peace of mind for you as well as for your professional wedding DJ experience for weddings in Charleston or wherever. More details forthcoming as Sarah & Ryan’s day unfolds on Thursday. Check back to the blog later this week to see how their special evening on Cinco de Mayo would unfold at the amazingly beautiful Historic Rice Mill.   For those modern brides and grooms who are interested in learning some more benefits about why you should conduct a final walkthrough before your wedding day, you'll want to read on.

With Charleston, SC being one of the most popular and sought after wedding destination in the United States, there is a constant flow of traffic online of newly engaged couples looking at all of the wedding venues that the beautiful city of Charleston has to offer. Perhaps you are in New York City, Chicago, Boston, or Philadelphia and are wondering about which wedding venue you'd like to book for your special day. You both set up a time on one weekend to make a trip down to see this beautiful city. At that time, you'll most likely meet with the coordinator / manager of your wedding venue, along with your wedding vendors. Be sure to click over to the preceding link to be taken over to my preferred vendors page if you should need a wedding planner or caterer or photographer.

Why A Final Walkthrough Is Needed Before Your Wedding Day
As an owner-operated wedding DJ service, I can only do ONE wedding per day. This allows me to provide my clients the laser focus that they desire when they are seeking a true professional wedding DJ. YOUR wedding date will never be tossed around like a football among other wedding DJs in the city, ever. Since I can only be in one place at a time, I'll have time to stop by your final walkthrough should you need to be there.  Final walkthroughs are meant to be that final crossing of the T's and dotting of the I's.  By the time of your final walkthrough, the butterflies are coming on strong and when you head over to your wedding venue, you'll be seeing it as sort of a "blank canvas" before all the tables and chairs and decorations are up.  Thinking of this time as sort of a pre-wedding planning session. If you have a wedidng planner and you've discussed all your decor, just close your eyes and imagine everything all set up.

Who Should Come To Your Final Wedding Venue Walkthrough?
When you are planning your final walkthrough, you should definitely include your catering company coordinator, your photographer, your wedding entertainment (DJ). After a couple books me, I've been known to set up a time to tour the wedding venue, especially if I have never been to your venue before. Even if I have been to the wedding venue, there might be a particular set up or location where I'll be that I've never experienced before. Wedding coordinators and planners have a way of getting creative and creating even more beautiful from the blank canvas that exists at all wedding venues.  If I have not gotten a chance to stop by the wedding venue, your final walkthrough is the perfect time to verify where I'll be setup. For me personally, it's peace of mind to see the bride and groom a few days before their wedding and to get my bearings about where exactly I'll be set up inside your wedding venue.

What Items Should You Bring To The Final Walkthrough For Your Wedding Day?
Perhaps you've hired a wedding planner or coordinator who has furnished you with a floor plan. You'll want to bring this floor plan with you to your walkthrough. You'll also want to bring your final wedding timeline with you, so if you should have any last minute questions or changes that you bring them up to your wedding planner.

What Types Of Questions Should You Ask During Your Final Walkthrough?
If you have hired a professional wedding planner or coordinator, they will cover everything for you during this walkthrough.  the final walkthrough will be an opportunity to ask any last minute questions about how your wedding day will be executing. Your wedding planner is ALL about checklists and they'll have one created for every aspect of your wedding day.  During your final walkthrough, your wedding planner will finalize the floor plan with you. Then, if you are having your wedding ceremony at the venue, your wedding planner will move into discussing the setting up of your wedding ceremony and reception, and how the flow of your wedding day will go. Before you get to your final walkthrough, be sure you have noted any questions as it pertains to your wedding timeline.

Your final walkthrough is an excellent time to review all of the items that will be rented for your wedding day.  If you have seen a decrease in the amount of wedding guests, this might be a good time to reduce or possibly add more items that may be needed to satisy your guest count. And one final thing, the day of your final walkthrough is a great time to verify who will be the one responsible for taking all your gifts, and any other extra personal items.
