Will & Alex: Gorgeous Winter Wedding At Medicine Wind Farm

28 January 2018

You know it used to be that Charleston's busiest wedding season would encompass the month's of April, May, and part of June, and then pick back up in the second half of September, go through October, and most of November. Maybe it's all the accolades that our beautiful city has received over the past several years from the likes of Conde Nast and other travel magazines that have allowed Charleston to grow into the Number 2 wedding destination in the country. I think it's our reasonably good weather all year round (except for the Great Snowstorm Of 2018 to start the year) that makes Charleston a place where you can plan a wedding all 12 months of the year. For my first wedding on the schedule for 2018, I travel outside of Charleston up off Exit 194 off I-26 west of Summerville. Medicine Wind Farm is a rather large (nearly 50 acre) farm and event center that provides the perfect setting and backdrop for a farm-styled wedding. This was actually my first time doing a wedding out at Medicine Wind Farm, and I must say it was a great departure from the hustle and bustle of weddings that are closer to the city of Charleston. For those brides and grooms looking for more of a rustic, country styled wedding, Medicine Wind Farm offered a real laid-back feel that was very relaxing.

I met Will & Alex back in the spring of 2017 and they immediately began to select their songs from my online portal. Will is in the Air Force and I extend to him a great thanks for his service and all my clients who are active duty military with a 10% discount on all bookings. Will & Alex were married at the Citadel's Summerall Chapel, before a trip up to the farm for their cocktial hour and reception. Their guests came to the Charleston area from all over ranging from Indiana, Nebraska, Florida, and Arizona just to name a few of the places. It's been my experience when guests travel a long distance to see their loved ones and friends get married, it's always a party. And I must say, Will & Alex's guests were so ready for a great party and such a fun crowd.  The party was pretty amazing with a Charleston Wedding DJ playlist that ranged from some of the typical wedding mainstays moving into a little hip-hop, and even a little crunk.

And I must add by the looks of that last photo up above that Will & Alex did have the "time of their lives". That classic song from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack is always a popular favorite to wrap up an incredible night. In closing, I wanted to take this time to thank Jamie Roman, who is the venue coordinator out at Medicine Wind Farm and did an outstanding job in coordinating their reception and making sure everything ran smoothly, and also her assistant Jessica Weber, who is owner of Aisle East, a wedding planning and coordination service in the Summerville, SC area. It's these hard-working ladies who worked to set up all the seating and decor to get the venue ready for Will & Alex. Well, here we are. We're now getting ready to wrap up  January and move into February with the afterglow of having had a great first wedding of 2018. Valentine's Day is a little over 2 weeks away as the engagement season continues to roll on in Charleston.  If you have recently gotten engaged over the holidays and are interested in meeting with one of Charleston's top wedding DJs to begin talking about the perfect soundtrack of your wedding, click HERE to tell me a little about your day.
