Engagement Season Tip: Find The Best Charleston Wedding DJ | Not The Best Price

17 November 2018

The weather outside is getting colder and the days are getting shorter. I don't know about you, but this "whole getting dark thing" shortly after 5:00pm is not really my cup of tea. Thankfully we just have another month before the days start getting longer again.  I am more into those late evening sunsets of summer here in Charleston with a nice adult beverage next to me near one of our most gorgeous waterfront venues and parks with friends and family. Thanksgiving is almost here and that's sort of the start of another engagement season, which lasts usually up until mid - late February. If you are just recently engaged or expect that the all important question is coming this season to you you'll want to read on. Late last year, I published a few articles that have received a lot of traffic over the past year. As one of the best Charleston wedding DJs, it's been my aim since building this site professionally nearly 2 1/2 years ago to keep the content fresh and relevant. If you are just visiting me for the first time, Welcome! And if you just got engaged and are looking for an amazing wedding DJ, I hope you are ready to dance. Please, read on and get lost in my musical world.

You may check out The Essential Music Guide For Charleston Weddings, as well as The Complete Guide To Hiring Your Charleston Wedding DJ. Both of these posts have garnered quite a bit of traction over the past year, and I'll be making some amendments to them as we edge toward the new year, and another fast-paced engagement season here in Charleston. We're gonna shed a little bit more on light on "price" again today. It seems to dominate a lot of the conversations with brides and grooms who are beginning to shop for their wedding vendors. Even in an economy today that seems to be firing on all cylinders, everyone wants to save a little bit of money. No matter if you are getting married, buying a car or buying your first home, everyone wants the best price.  When it comes to the entertainment for your Charleston wedding, you want the BEST entertainment and should be willing to pay whichever that price may be.  However, the best Charleston wedding DJs may not be the best price for you.  For your wedding entertainment, modern brides and grooms must look past the price and base their decision on a wide variety of factors.

You Won't Get The Best Charleston Wedding DJs For The Lowest Price
The DJ or entertainment will be an integral part of your wedding day.  No matter if your wedding budget is $20,000, $50,000, or $100,000, the price you pay for a great professional wedding DJ is going to be pretty stable.  Unlike your expenses for food and alcohol, (which can increase dramatically with the size of your guest list), pricing for your entertainment won't operate like that.

Exceptional Wedding DJs Are Going To Provide Great Content
Honestly, I am not meaning to toot my own horn here, but even if you are outside of Charleston looking  for a wedding DJ, you'll find some of the best DJs in some of the bigger markets have become thought leaders in their craft. They've produced vast amounts of helpful content for their current and prospective clients that cover all aspects of the hiring process of your wedding DJ. What happens after you hire your wedding DJ? Will you get a chance to pick some of your wedding music? Will the DJ help you design a timeline? Will the DJ steer you in the direction of professional wedding vendors for wedding planning, wedding lighting, and luxury photo booths?

Reviews  & Reputation Should Be Your Focus More So Than Price
The true professional wedding DJs are going to have a pretty massive reputation online when it comes to reviews. Most modern Charleston brides and grooms (88%) base their buying decisions on reviews. Be sure when you go to a DJs website, you make an attempt to read closely over the reviews. Read about the DJs style. If you should decide to meet with that particular DJ, make sure you feel like you and your fiance's personality will mesh with theirs.
Reviews And Reputation Are Important For Your Wedding DJ

Music Should Be Your Number 1 Priority For Your Charleston Wedding
At the end of the day, your only focus should be doing whatever it takes to make your Charleston wedding the most fun possible.  Let's take a look at some of the big expenses you'll have at your wedding.
Flowers
Ask yourself this question. How will flowers make your wedding "fun"?  Flowers might be nice to look at it, and make the scenery at your reception prettier, but let's be honest, unless you are bringing in some exotic flowers from overseas that are rare, no one is going to remember your flowers. Unless someone is throwing flower petals at you while you exit, there is no fun factor in flowers. But, you know what's crazy? I hear stories that some brides spend more money on their flowers than they do their wedding DJ. Don't let this be YOU.

Cake
You might also ask yourself this question. How is a cake going to make your wedding "fun"?  I've actually seen in recent years couples opting for cupcakes or something more simple. The cake might be fun if you smear frosting on each other's face during the cake cutting, but even that ritual has been on the decline in recent years.  And you know what? I've been to some weddings where the cake is barely eaten. What kind of fun is that? Plus, taking time to cut the cake takes away from dancing with you and guests.

Venue
You spent $8,000 to rent your venue. You still need tables and chairs and linens which will add to that number even before you add in food and beverage. While that venue is beautiful and by the water, you'll STILL want to have the most fun possible. That  venue WITHOUT a great DJ and entertainment is $8,000 down the tubes.  Make sure you pick the right wedding DJ who will make that venue rock and make indelible memories that will last a lifetime.

The Verdict:  Hire Who You Think The Best DJ Is For You With Money Being NO Object
Your guests might be coming to Charleston from all over the country. You might be planning your Charleston wedding from a distance as well. It can be stressful, so when it finally gets here you are worthy of having the most fun possible. The music and entertainment you choose will make or break your wedding day.  The purpose of this post was to get you thinking about your wedding entertainment as one of the most important hiring decisions you'll make for your wedding.  When you make your wedding DJ the most important part of your wedding day, they get hired and some of the other parts of your wedding that I mentioned up above can be trimmed to afford the best wedding DJ for you. So, look at your Charleston Wedding DJs, at least 3 or 4 of them. Meet with them. Check out their reviews and web presence.  Then, make your decision. After you make your decision, pull out your credit card and save your date. Yes, think about the price for your wedding DJ LAST, not first.   You'll be glad that you did and I can promise that you and your guests will be thinking about your wedding for years after your big day.
