Live at the Gaillard Center downtown in Charleston, SC, it's world renown jazz pianist and singer, Diana Krall. Billboard magazine named her one of the best selling jazz artists of her time. She's at the top of the modern jazz musician class. Her voice is very rich and sensual, and in my humble opinion one of the best in history out of all female jazz musicians. I am giving Diana some time on my blog this weekend because her music would go perfectly at a black-tie Charleston wedding down at the Hibernian Hall or the historic Gadsden House, or even the Governor Thomas Bennett House. If you are just hitting my website and blog for the first time, welcome! As one of the best Charleston Wedding DJs, if you aincorporating other jazz musicians into your Charleston wedding playlist is something you are interested in, you might check back at an earlier post from a few weeks ago about my smooth and sexy like silk jazz cocktail hour for Charleston weddings as well. It's only a few posts back behind this one.
After a bit of a hiatus, Mike Bills Entertainment is happy to once again be an advertiser in Charleston's premier magazine for all things weddings in Charleston, Charleston Weddings Magazine. For over 12 years now, this magazine has showcased real weddings, the latest wedding trends, and a whole host of wedding vendors to help the recently engaged bride begin to visualize how one of the biggest days of their lives will play out. Whether it's ideas for your dress, your cake, your venue, or wedding budget, Charleston Weddings Magazine has it all and then some and continues to be the choice for Lowcountry brides. You may pick up a copy of the magazine at Charleston and Mt Pleasant area Harris Teeter grocery stores, Whole Foods, Pitt Street Pharmacy, Boone Hall Farms, Earthfare, and many more places. In recent years, the availability of the magazine has grown throughout the Southeast, with areas in North Carolina, Florida, and Georgia also having the magazine on hand for brides looking to get married in Charleston. For brides who are out of the Southeast region of the United States and would like to still get a copy of the magazine, it is avialable on their website. This Fall / Winter 2017 - 2018 issue of the magazine hit stores around November 1 and will cover all brides up through Valentine's Day. We'll cover seven of the main reasons you need to get a copy of this magazine today in this post, but once you begin to flip through it, you'll realize there are so many more reasons.
Happy Veterans Day Weekend! As I write this post, the temperatures here in the Charleston area are in the lower 40s with some breezy and gusty winds this morning. It sure is feeling more and more fall-like than it has in recent weeks. Thank you to all the men and women who have served our country and continue to serve this country today and give us the freedom to have these beautiful weddings all over the Lowcountry. It sure has been a great Fall wedding season for Mike Bills Entertainment and I am still catching up on some blogs from some of my events and one of those posts was a recap of Katie & Ricky's beautiful day over at the absolutely gorgeous Creek Club At Ion back on October 1, 2017. If you just got engaged and are looking for a venue, I strongly encourage you to check out the Creek Club At Ion. It's waterfront location right on the creek provides one of the beautiful backdrops out of all the wedding venues in the Charleston area. There is a luxurious lawn that overlooks the creek where Katie & Ricky had their wedding ceremony. Music for their wedding ceremony was performed by Carolina Trio. Mike Bills Entertainment provided the sound and PA for the ceremony. It was a beautiful afternoon for an outdoor ceremony, we just had a cold front pass ushering the first hint of Fall. The humidity was lower and there was a bit of a gentle Fall breeze. Please read as we go into a little more detail of their playlist selection.
The annual accolades awarded to Charleston, SC by Conde Nast Traveler seemed to have become “expected” and almost second nature by now. Back last year in 2016, Travel & Leisure joined the party and named Charleston the top city in the United States and that honor continues in 2017 too. It should be no surprise that all these awards and accolades have created a buzz about Charleston. That buzz has 35 people moving to the beautiful city of Charleston every single day. With that amount of buzz and traffic, recently engaged couples who are planning their wedding from Michigan, Texas, New York, Georgia or California are discovering Charleston and all what it has to offer. Charleston offers the most incredible backdrop for creating a romantic wedding. With the wedding business exploding in recent years, some of the best wedding vendors have burst onto the scene and some have even relocated here. Mike Bills Entertainment has developed an exceptional reputation of serving destination brides and grooms from all over the country and has become a top wedding DJ in Charleston with a truly professional and polished approach. What exactly is the allure of Charleston as a wedding destination? Perhaps it’s the profound history, combined with its close proximity to the ocean and excellent culinary atmosphere that makes it unbeatable and very desirable? One thing is for sure. Charleston and it's beautiful surroundings make lasting memories for thousands of brides and grooms from across this country, year in and year out.
Well, we've reached the first full weekend of May and there's a little autumn chill in the air, but since we're the in the midst of another wonderful wedding season in Charleston, and since it'll soon be VERY HOT for several months, there is no complaining here from me. I actually just got done stealing about 5 days during this busy and hectic wedding season by taking a little rest and relaxation out on the Florida Gulf Coast in a lovely place called Destin, FL. I strongly recommend Destin for a laid back experience away from Charleston. And hey, since it's a quiet, laid back area on the Florida Gulf Coast with white sands on the beaches that resemble sugar, it might be a choice for your honeymoon. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g34182-Destin_Florida-Vacations.html
As we cruise through early May, here are the Top 10 biggest songs being requested and played at weddings around Charleston this spring in both the Top 40 and Urban / Rap charts. At last post, Ed Sheeran was at the top of the Top 40 charts with his mega hit "Shape Of You", but he's dropped a tad to #2. Ed Sheeran has a second song in the Top 30 and "Castle On The Hill" sits at #15 and is slowly moving up the charts into the Top 10. Ed Sheeran will be coming to North Charleston in September. I would say get your tickets, but it's been sold out soon after the tickets went on sale. "Castle On The Hill" may move up, but it's not nearly as catchy as "Shape Of You". The Chainsmokers continue to occupy a few spots in the Top 10. They are holding strong at #5 with "Paris" and at #3, it's their collaboration with Coldplay "Something Just Like This"
2017 is kicking off somewhat like 2016 ended with a lot of the placeholders on the year end Top 40 and Urban charts still in the Top 15. Ariana Grande is still radiating heat with her song “Side To Side” alongside (no pun intended) Nicki Minaj. Alessia Cara continues to make moves up the charts with her hit “Scars To Your Beautiful”
One of the biggest goals of your night is for everyone to have fun and to keep your dance floor nice and packed. Every time I sit down with a couple, their biggest concern is to keep everyone on their feet and dancing all night long. How do you ensure your guests are going to have fun and dance all night?
WARNING! This is NOT a stab at brides and grooms who opt NOT to spend a lot of money on their wedding, but what you are about to read is a very accurate illustration as to what can happen when couples decide to cut corners and use an Ipad as the source of music for their wedding instead of hiring a true professional wedding DJ.
Happy New Year. Well, it's almost 2017. Congratulations once again to all the all newly engaged brides and grooms in and around Charleston. Today we'll wrap up 2016 from a musical standpoint and spotlight the Top 10 songs on the charts from the current Top 40, as well as urban and rap music charts. If you have not done, click back over to the main website and fill out a contact form or availability form on the home page and let's schedule a time to meet and get together to discuss your wedding ceremony and reception.
Unbelievable! I actually just wrote a blog on Christmas Day in regards to some of the notable musicians that you might hear played by DJs at weddings in Charleston that have passed away in 2016. And now, I have to go back and update that blog entry as of late Christmas Day. The passing of George Michael continues what has been one of the darkest years in terms of the loss of celebrities and musicians. Being a former radio announcer who hosted numerous 80s request shows on air in Charleston, I can say we lost a huge part of the 80s with the passing of icon George Michael.
