    CHARLESTON WEDDING VENUES

It's probably one of the busiest weekends of the year in the Charleston, SC area; Cooper River Bridge Run Weekend. Since it's beginning in 1978, the Cooper River Bridge Run has become one of the most popular 10K races in the country.  It's actually a 10K race that Oprah Winfrey ran back in 1994. What else makes this weekend one of the biggest of the year in the Holy City?  Well, the Charleston wedding season is well underway which means there will once again be a large amount of destination couples coming to town along with their family and friends. The Flowertown Festival takes place out in Summerville, and it normally attracts upwards of 200,000 people. The Volvo Car Open will be wrapping up another wildly successful year over on Daniel Island, and if that's not enough, The Lowcountry Cajun Festival is also happening! As one of the best Charleston wedding DJs, I have always got music on the brain. I love helping brides and grooms make an amazing soundtrack for one of the biggest days of their lives. Even though I am not running the bridge,  I wanted to create a great playlist of music for people needing a little boost in making it over the great Charleston landmark. You'll want to read on and have your Spotify ready to add these songs so you are prepared when the gun fires on the starting line.

Your days as a single lady are numbered. Thankfully you hired a top notch wedding planner, so all of your planning is just about done and well under control.  You are only planning on getting married once so you want all the experiences that lead up to that incredible day to also be perfect as well. Charleston, SC is one of the top two wedding destinations in the country for good reason, but you've already decided you are getting married here. Charleston is also one of the best places to celebrate your last days as a single lady. It's time now to plan your last big party weekend: The Bachelorette Party Weekend. Like your carefully planned wedding day, your bachelorette weekend should also be a weekend where you don't lift a finger. It should be a weekend where Uber is your best friend, and Jack and Fireball are also your good friends. It should be a weekend where you and your besties are treated like queens in the most luxurious party bus and you wake up in your hotel room right on the beach with mimosas in your hand. What could possibly make this girls weekend even better? Music. You'll want to read on as one of the best playlists is organized for you and your besties by one of the top Charleston Wedding DJs.

You know one of the biggest parts in creating my brand as one of the best Charleston Wedding DJs was making sure that I provide all my clients a classy and fun experience. Being a "classy" wedding DJ for me has always meant conducting myself "professionally" at all times. The DJ should dress professionally, as well as talk professionally. Another part of being a "classy" DJ is keeping the playlist "clean". While some brides and grooms might be tempted to throw on some club-like music with explicit lyrics,  I am here to say to try to keep those songs off of your playlist. Be considerate of your wedding guests, your parents, and your grandparents. Your Charleston wedding is going to be one of the most memorable days of your entire life.  It's a wonderful time that needs to have with it an equally awesome soundtrack. You can have the time of your life WITHOUT the explicit lyrics. The last thing that brides and grooms want are F bombs coming out of their DJs' speakers and onto the dance floor at their carefully selected classy Charleston wedding venue. You'll want to read on for some of the reasons to keep the offensive lyrics off your playlist, plus I'll list a few of the  "non-club" songs that will need a radio edit if you'd like added to your playlist.

The possibilities for the vibe for the dinner music portion of your Charleston wedding are endless. One of the most popular blog posts ever on my site was published close to 2 years ago and featured some of the best soft rock songs from the 80s. Due to it's extreme popularity, I eventually published a sequel to that post, as well as posts about 70s and 90s soft rock songs. As the new millenium began in 2000, a lot of the artists we once heard  back in the 80s and 90s saw their airplay decrease for new and upcoming artists that are still heard from today.  The soft rock charts during the 2000s saw quite a few country crossover songs from the likes of Faith Hill, Lee Ann Womack, and Taylor Swift.  Artists like Dido, Vanessa Carlton, Sherly Crow, and Colbie Caillat spent a lot of time during this decade on the soft rock and Billboard Hot 100 charts. As the 90s became the 2000s, Savage Garden would continue it's dominance at the top of the adult contemporary charts with their smash hit "I Knew I Loved You".

Most all of the brides and grooms who select me to be their Charleston Wedding DJ tend to be very much into their music.  What exactly does that mean? It means that music is generally a very important part of their life. Oftentimes (even before I meet them), they have chosen the song that they will use for their first dance. They have (a lot of times) chosen this song shortly after beginning their engagement. Other music aficionados might spend more time choosing their song.  Your first dance is one of the key moments during your wedding reception where the spotlight is on you.  Be sure to choose a song that best exemplifies your love for one another.  Are you in the mood to be serious about your first dance? Maybe you'd like to let loose and goof  off a little bit during your first dance?  As one of the top Charleston wedding DJs, I've posted quite a bit about first dance songs. In this post, we'll break down some of the different styles that Charleston wedding couples have used over the years.

Charleston, SC remains a top wedding destination in the country for many reasons.  Lots of couples choose the Holy City for it's rich history on the peninsula, or for it's taste of the old South with its beautiful plantations for their wedding ceremony and reception. In addition to all it has to offer with it's history, Charleston also has some of the most beautiful beaches. Today's stop on the Charleston Wedding Venue tour takes us to one of the most beautiful private beaches in the greater Charleston area, Seabrook Island. Seabrook Island is a private resort town located about 24 miles south of Charleston. Even though the resort is private, the Seabrook Island Club is also available open to non-members of the community for weddings and private events. For those Charleston brides and grooms who have been dreaming about a luxury wedding at the beach, look no further than the Seabrook Island Club.

Back around Christmas, he proposed to you. And you said. "YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS". You had dreamed about him proposing to you for quite some time, and now that he did  you are finding yourself falling even deeper in love with him thinking about all the possibilities of your new life together. Some of the things you've begun to think about. "I can't wait to see him in his tux." or "I cannot wait to board a plane to our dream honeymoon to Bali", or another important question. "What's our first dance going to be?". All this and so much more enter a modern bride and groom mind right after the engagement begins.   You certainly don't anticipate getting married more than one time in your lifetime, so this most important day of your life must be perfect. As one of the best Charleston Wedding DJs, I've seen it all and I want to make sure your wedding day here in Charleston is a day that you and your guests will NEVER forget.

Happy New Year! I know I'm a little late on that, but the first few weeks of 2019 have been rather busy.  You know I've got great feelings and vibes about 2019 turning into an amazing year for Mike Bills Entertainment. 2018 was a year of exceptional growth for my company online with a bit of a website refresh back in the fall, as well as tons of new content and blogs published for the modern Charleston bride. The wedding DJ / entertainment you decide to hire for your Charleston wedding will single-handedly have the most impact on you and your guests and whether or not you have the time of your lives.  Hiring your Charleston Wedding DJ is so much more than finding the lowest price and best bargain.  If it were just that, I wouldn't have opened my business and carved out my niche as being only one of a few "owner-operated DJs" here in Charleston.  As a matter of fact, I've seen polls on some of the leading wedding websites that show nearly 3/4 of all brides were not happy with the entertainment they chose for their wedding.  They wish they had spent more time researching who their wedding DJ should be. You need to be totally comfortable with who is going to be executing the flow of your evening.  As I put together the second edition of my Complete Guide For Selecting Your Wedding DJ for 2019,  the inspiration for this post came to me and I felt it was important to give some of the recently engaged brides and grooms some questions to ask when they start the search for the best Charleston wedding DJ for them.

Some exciting things have been happening over the past several months with my DJ company, Mike Bills Entertainment. Back during the summer months, I began a massive campaign to refresh a lot of the content on my website.  This content refresh resulted in an increase in my ongoing music posts and playlist ideas, as well as a project that is still underway that found me heading out to some of the most beautiful Charleston wedding venues to create featured posts on my blog so that prospective brides who had not quite signed a contract with their venue yet could see some of the best venues that Charleston has to offer. As one of the best Charleston wedding DJs, I'm always looking for ways to make securing your wedding DJ even easier.  In this post, I'm very excited to share with you some new features and benefits and other awesome new things that you'll see when you hire me to DJ your Charleston wedding.

Made Our Wedding Perfect

Before choosing Mike Bills as our wedding DJ, we looked at several companies and DJs and looked over the reviews for all of them. We chose Mike Bills because of the overwhelmingly great reviews he got and I am so glad we did! They were all spot on! Mike was great to work with, quick to respond, came to our rehearsal to do a run through with us.

Professional and Creative

Mike was kind, courteous, professional, and creative! We thoroughly enjoyed working with him for our destination wedding at Folly Beach. We gave Mike minimal guidance and he caught on to our "style" quickly and efficiently. Our guests are still raving about the music selections, and how they were a great balance of new tracks and standards for everyone to enjoy.
