Teri & Michael A Fall-Like Afternoon In August On Folly Beach

27 August 2012

Teri & Michael's ceremony began around 5pm as the bridal party (still in the somewhat bright summer sun). The bridal party descended into the back of the house near the beach to the Train song "Marry Me". As Teri and her father descended down the stairs, I faded out Train and moved into "Love Me Tender" by Norah Jones.

"Love Me Tender" by Norah Jones was complimented on quite frequently by guests after I played it. It wasn't a cover that I knew Norah had done until Teri had requested I play it for her. It took a while for me to locate. After digging and searching, it was stuck on a hard to find Greatest Hits CD released in 2008.

For the cocktail and dinner portion of the evening, I kept to a jazz and traditional music set with some contemporary artists mixed in. Artists ranging from Billie Holiday to Frank Sinatra to Louis Armstrong to John Coltrane to Michael Buble to Van Morrison, as well as Diana Krall's "The Look Of Love".

For Teri and Michael's first dance, I cued up an incredible cover of the 90s classic by Oasis called "Wonderwall" performed by Ryan Adams. It was the perfect song for a perfect time.Shortly after, I asked Teri's father to join his daughter on the dance floor for their dance. "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw.

I then opened up the dance floor for requests as we capped off the evening with their final dance to "I Cross My Heart" by George Strait,Then, a lovely Sparkler Sendoff (which I can't wait to see photos on). I chose the classic Dirty Dancing song "I've Had The Time Of My Life" by Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes.
