Jill & Clayton - 1000 Year Flood Would Not Stop Their Day

06 October 2015

You may remember a blog posting I did back in August about a site survey over to The Ponds in Summerville. It's a really nice housing development, south of Summerville off 17A.

Well, October 3 was approaching and since Jill & Clayton's wedding was mostly outdoors, Mike Bills Entertainment tends to focus on the weather forecast about 7-10 days in advance. The weather in early October could still be summery or the onset of fall.  In the early days of the week of their wedding, the weather looked favorable, but as we approached Wednesday evening, higher and higher rain chances were surfacing on Friday, and unfortunately Saturday.

My company thrives on being your Charleston DJ  who likes to make appearances at rehearsals. It gives me a sense of security, especially in the situation of this day when logistics changes were going to be made. The rains that were coming in to South Carolina weren't just any average rains, they were "historic" and "epic".

It was raining on the way out to the rehearsal, and on the way back. Different plans on where to set up were discussed and implemented. As Friday turned into Saturday, the rains were relentless. It was raining so much prior to heading out to The Ponds that it took longer to load gear because even though the gear is protected, you still don't like to venture out in a driving rainstorm with it.

Dorchester RD was closed, so an alternate route through Summerville was taken. Thankfully, as Mike Bills Entertainment arrived, the rains let up a tad, enough to not get things drenched upon setup. The decision was made to set up for the ceremony underneath a pavillion.

During the time leading up to the ceremony, the rain had subsided. As the guests ventured to the cocktail hour location, the rain continued to hold off.  Jill & Clayton proceeded to get their photos done after the ceremony, at which time, it was time to introduce the lovely new married couple.

Cancelling a wedding can be an expensive proposition. The historic flood of 2015 to hit South Carolina was unfolding as Jill & Clayton's wedding took shape. The rains came back and they came back hard as the evening ended. October 3, 2015 will be a day to remember for Jill & Clayton for more reasons than their wedding day. A 1000 Year Flood would not deny them "their" day. And even though some of the guests could not make it due to the weather, those that did make it saw true love in action. Congratulations to Jill & Clayton. Mike Bills Entertaiment was so proud to provide the soundtrack for your special day.
